Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the onion gravy

  • 1 tbsp grassfed butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and form into 4–5 oval patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned, depending on the size. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter with the olive oil. Add the sliced onions and cook for 10–12 minutes until soft and golden.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir for 1 minute. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring until smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and soy sauce.
  • Return the patties to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the gravy has thickened. Serve warm with extra gravy spooned over the top. Enjoy!
