Beautycounter Consultant (Everything you need to know!)

Why I love Beautycounter:

I’ve had some questions about what it looks like to be a Beautycounter consultant, so I figured I’d answer some in a blog post! I’ve been a consultant for year, and I’ve learned a thing or two! I truly had no plans to become a consultant. I’ve tried other direct sales companies in the past, and I never loved how they were done. However, my friend Michelle is a consultant and I was so intrigued by how she did things. She just shared so differently than I was used to. She sent me samples and was never pushy. So I finally decided to order some products and I really didn’t want to like them…but honestly, I fell in love! My skin felt so much brighter, cleaner, and smoother, and I just felt so much more confident in my own skin!

Soon after, I figured I may as well sign up to be a consultant. It was such a low risk, and basically like being an affiliate, which I am for so many other companies that I love! It was also only $21 to sign up. That’s it – what did I have to lose? I soon realized how many other women in my life used the products too, so I knew they had to be good! After learning more about the company and the founder, Gregg Renfrew, I came to love her heart and mission behind the company! I share more about this in the questions below.

I can honestly tell you that there is nothing icky or spammy about Beautycounter. The company is very upfront and honest and the products truly do work! The products are pregnancy and breastfeeding safe, which is an important benefit in my season of life!  I truly love being a consultant. I get to work with friends every single day and help others feel good in their skin which is worth gold, in my opinion! The best part is that you can run the business however you want. You don’t ever have to grow a team if you don’t want to! It’s up to you how much time you want to put in, which is ideal, especially being a mom and not always having very much time!

Want to learn more about being a Beautycounter consultant? I’ll answer the most common questions I get asked in the FAQs below. So let’s answer some questions and you can always email me or DM me with any questions as well!

How much does it cost to sign up as a Beautycounter consultant?

If you’re already a Band of Beauty member, then it’s literally only $21 to sign up! If you aren’t a member then it’s $50! Beautycounter will offer you discount starter packages if you’d like. It’s definitely the cheapest you’ll ever come by the product. However, you do NOT have to buy a thing. You can just pay the consultant fee and that’s it. That’s actually what I did! I do wish I took advantage of the extra discount when signing up though, because I ended up buying so much after anyway!

What discount do consultants get?

Beautycounter consultants get 25% off as well as early access to products and opportunities to get products for free too!

What’s so great about the Beautycounter?

EVERYTHING, haha! But seriously, I absolutely love everything about the company: what they stand for, what they are working toward, and the ingredients they use. I love that everything is pregnancy and breastfeeding safe which is super important to me as a pregnant mama! Not only are clean products and product safety a major focus, the company is also working hard to change the beauty industry.

Did you know that in the US FDA only bans 30 ingredients from personal care products, while in comparison, the EU bans 1400! If that doesn’t say something, I don’t know what does. It’s kind of crazy what ingredients are allowed in products and yet most of us don’t know the side effects (including myself). It’s something that really matters to me, as an expectant mother and having my other kids all over me all day long, and I’m still learning more about it. But Beautycounter makes it easy because it’s is committed to making beauty ingredients that are both safe for people and the planet. Their mission is to get safer products in the hands of everyone! You can learn more about their mission here!

How much do you have to sell to stay a consultant?

The only requirement to stay a consultant is selling $750 in product over a 6 month period. It sounds like a lot, but your own orders count, too! Essentially, you can sign up and try it out for 6 months and you’ll get the discount as well as commission on any sales! It’s completely doable, especially if you have a friend or family member that orders too. If you don’t hit the requirement then you just go back to being a Band of Beauty member, but you’ll at least get to take advantage of the discount for 6 months! You can always sign back up again at $21!

Do you actually have to sell or can you just do it for the discount?

You can definitely do it for the discount if you want! As long as you hit the the requirements that I shared in the previous question then you’re good!

How much do you make?

It actually fluctuates monthly! It all depends on how much I sell per month as well as the consultants on my team. Below is a document showing what average monthly payment looks like depending what level you’re at. I’ve gone as high as a Director during the fall and now I’ve been sitting closer to Senior Manager/ Manager. I added another image too with the breakdown of the income to put it into another perspective!

When you work for Beautycounter, what do you actually do?

It’s really all about how much time and effort you want to put in! The more you put in, the more you’ll get out. Daily and monthly tasks include things like: mailing product samples, sending thank you emails for orders, sending product credit reminders, checking in with clients, helping color match for makeup and picking personalized skincare recommendations (I have a team above me that helps me with this so you don’t have to know how to do this by yourself), recording and posting content for social media (I only do Instagram stories at this point), etc!

Do I have to use social media to sell?

You do not! I do think it can definitely help, but it’s not required. Some other very successful consultants just host parties, word of mouth, etc! You really get to run the business how you want without pressure. If you want to use social media, it’s definitely an amazing tool, but you also don’t have to have a large following to be successful! The fact that I had already built my following definitely helped me a ton and I am grateful for that, but the majority of consultants don’t have a large following and have been just as successful and even more successful! It all depends on how much work you want to put in and your goals for your Beautycounter business!

Isn’t it Beautycounter an MLM?

Well it’s technically a direct sales company, but it does has a multi-level structure just as any job is. The majority of companies are ranked by levels and different salaries when you break it down. Think about direct sales this way: Most companies are going to influencers or selling on social media because it’s more successful. They can nail down their right target market by finding someone that fits that. It works way better than just being in a store, because store shopping is way less frequent these days.

A goal of Beautycounter founder, Gregg Renfrew, was to have people that actually love the product sell it. Isn’t that way more successful than just sticking it in a store?! I’d rather buy a product suggestion from someone I know and trust than just something I see on the store wall, which is more like affiliate marketing than anything else. For example, you’re sitting with your best friend and she tells you about the new shoes she got from Target that are so cute and you need them. You immediately buy them because you trust her, but what if she could have gotten a piece of the commission since she suggested them? It’s just like that: your consultant gets paid when you buy Beautycounter from their link.

What are your favorite Beautycounter products?

There are so many products to choose from and I love so many! However, I have my solid go-to’s and wrote a blog post on my top 5 products HERE!
