These maple glazed apple blondies need to be added to your fall baking list. They basically melt in your mouth and the maple glaze on top totally makes them. They have all the flavors of fall and they’re so dang good. They come together very quickly and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or a warm beverage for the perfect fall dessert.

What you need to make these maple glazed apple blondies:

  • Unsalted butter- You can use salted as well but I always go for unsalted in baking. If you use salted, you can still follow the recipe the same.
  • Brown sugar- Brown sugar gives it that caramel note and adds the perfect sweetness as well as giving the cobbler that caramelization on the apples. You can use light or dark brown sugar in these maple glazed apple blondies.
  • Egg- The egg helps to bind the blondies. I have not tried any substitutions like a flax or chia egg myself.
  • Vanilla extract- No baked good recipe is complete without vanilla extract in my opinion. It’s key!
  • All-purpose flour- For the mixture with the apples, I used flour. You can always substitute with cornstarch but I’d check the measurements for that option. For the actual topping, I also used all-purpose flour. You could substitute with gluten-free 1:1 all-purpose flour. Almond flour and coconut flour won’t work.
  • Cinnamon- Cinnamon adds the perfect sweetness & spice!
  • Baking powder- The baking powder helps the topping to rise and be nice and fluffy.
  • Apples– We went apple picking and used gala because that’s what they had at the orchard. You can also use varieties like honeycrisp, braeburn, fuji, granny smith or a mix!
  • Sea salt- Salt is key in a baked good, because it really helps to bring out the flavor!

Ingredients

For the Blondies:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted & cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

For the Apples:

  • 1 cup apples chopped small
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • splash of vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter room temperature
  • cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbsp heavy cream
  • pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F degrees.
  • Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper & oil.
  • Heat a small pan, add in the chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon & vanilla. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until cooked down & then set aside to cool.
  • Next, melt the butter, set aside, and let cool.
  • In a large bowl, add in the butter and sugar. Stir until well combined. Add in the vanilla extract and egg. Stir again.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a rubber spatula, creating a thick batter. Then gently fold in the cooled apples.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 min, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While the blondies cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, add all the glaze ingredients. Use a hand mixer and mix until there are no longer clumps. Start with 1 tbsp heavy cream and add an additional if you need it.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled blondies. Slice & enjoy!
