Top Snacks for Kids

Here’s a list of our top go-to snacks for our kids. Ages 5, 3, & 1! We used to eat a lot more packaged snacks, but I’ve been trying to decrease slowly. It’s definitely taken time. I will say now that it’s summer and busier, I’ve found that we’re eating more packaged snacks. It all ebbs and flows. When I can make homemade things, I try, but sometimes things are just too busy. I love to get snacks from Thrive Market, Trader Joe’s and Costco. When they’ll let me, I do usually try to pair a carb + a fat or protein.

  1. Fresh fruit (apples, bananas, grapes, berries, oranges) + a meat stick (we love Paleovalley, Chomps (I find them at Trader Joes’s), or Country Archer (at Costco) or hard boiled eggs
  2. Greek yogurt + homemade granola (or Purely Elizabeth) + raw honey
  3. Crackers (Simple Mills or just one from Trader Joe’s) + cheese and/or a meat stick
  4. Smoothie popsicles- They won’t drink a smoothie so I’ll make it in a popsicle form & they think they’re great haha, I do all different types of flavors & it’s an easy way to break in a probiotic capsule, vitamin C, collagen, (code DADDIO10 for 10% off) or add in colostrum (code DADDIOS for 10% off). I love these reusable popsicle molds and these molds because they really look like popsicles!
  5. Energy balls- I have a few variations on my blog for these: cookie dough, lemon poppyseed, birthday cake, etc. Also a classic I always come back to is: 1 cups quick oats + 2 scoops collagen + 1/2 cup peanut butter + 1/4-1/3 cup raw honey + pinch of sea salt + a sprinkle of cinnamon. This is the best scooper for balls!
  6. Protein bars- They’re obsessed with Gomacro (chocolate peanut butter) + Aloha (peanut butter cup) + Perfect Bars, and Roman likes the That’s It bars.
  7. Sourdough bread + butter- This is always an option when they’re hungry haha. If you want to learn how to make sourdough, but don’t know where to start, check out my guide here!
  8. Pretzel chips + hummus or meat stick or turkey- Noah is obsessed with hummus and cucumbers but T doesn’t like it.
  9. Banana boats- That’s what Noah calls them, but I just slice bananas and top with peanut butter + sometimes sprinkles, chocolate chips, or raisins or my chocolate peanut butter banana pops!
  10. Homemade popcorn– This is one of the boys favorite snacks! It’s so easy to make homemade and whenever I make it for a movie night, I’ll always make extra. That way they can enjoy it during the week!
  11. Treat- If I’ve made a homemade dessert, I’ll sometimes let them have some for an afternoon treat! Their favorites are my banana bread, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, etc.
